Mu - Meson Archives presents:
CULT SINEMA with Jay Katz & Miss Death
Bakehouse’s launch night will take place at The Annandale Hotel where the main bar will be transformed into a cinema as Jay Katz & Miss Death present of night of rare film & oddities!
To kick the night off Mu-Meson Archives will screen some educational shorts that were foisted onto the public to educate them on the developmentally & physically disabled, hence giving the public misinformation & praying on their fears to further isolate them from the mainstream.
Following the shorts will be Chained For Life (1951). Unique as the first & only feature film starring Violet & Daisy Hilton, British-born Siamese twins who were joined at the lower back. The Hilton Sisters had been before the camera once before, in a small role in Tod Browning’s 1932 Freaks. Catch a glimpse into the lives and loves of this extraordinary pair!

CarriageWorks is a bold new arts centre dedicated to the development and presentation of contemporary arts. Over four days three of the residing companies; erth, Performance Space & STALKER along with sliced bread attraction will run a series of workshops targeted towards people with a disability.

Discover the world of film making in this hands-on & practical workshop. Through practical demonstrations you will learn basic camera operation, shot types & shooting techniques to get yourself on the way to being a budding film maker!

TUTORS Craig Anderson & Genevieve Clay
Craig is an actor, director, producer & writer. He co-wrote & directed the AFI winning comedy series Double The Fist & has just finished making the second series. Craig recently produced the international award-winning shorts The Picnic and The Sister. He was also Associate Producer on the next big ABC Comedy series- Review with Myles Barlow. Genevieve is an actor and director and is currently completing a degree in Media Arts and Production at UTS. She is currently working on a documentary for Down Syndrome NSW to be shown at Sydney Opera House in 2009.

Want to be taller? Learn from one Australia’s premier stilt walkers, David Clarkson how to stilt walk, skills in release based dance & improvisation in this safe, supportive & fun workshop.

David Clarkson co founded Stalker in 1988 and during that time has led Stalker to become one of Australia’s top internationally touring outdoor theatre companies. David has over 25 years experience as a physical performer and devisor whose work has ranged from Olympic Opening Ceremonies to large scale community outreach projects. He was recently awarded the Rex Cramphorn Scholarship for an outstanding life long commitment to innovative theatre.
STALKER presents: BREAK DANCING
Ever wanted to be a B-Boy or B-Girl? Come learn in a supportive and inclusive workshop some of the foundations skills and moves that make this street-based dance so popular.

Nick Power has been representing Australian Hip Hop for the past 15 years as B*Boy (Breakdancer and Activist). He currently works with several companies across Australia as a dancer, choreographer, teacher & producer. He most recently was the Artistic Director of Platform 1 Hip Hop Festival, a large-scale, 2 day festival featuring over 70 artists held at CarriageWorks.

Performance Space presents: CONTACT IMPROVISATION: Connecting & Dancing -Body awareness through touch & movement
Participants will learn Contact Improvisation skills (coming in & out of contact) and will engage in individual movement meditation, body work, group movement games and free dancing.

Note: This is an inclusive workshop allowing everyone to participate, regardless of level of movement ability or physical capacity. No previous experience is needed. Carers will be required to participate in the workshop.
TUTORS John Addis & Mircalla Havier
John Addis is founder and Director of Danceplay Australia, a non profit organisation of dance, theatre and improvisation and is a passionate dancer in the community. Mircalla Havier is a dancer & a teacher with Danceplay Australia. & is currently completing a Masters of Dance/Movement Therapy and Counselling specialising in autism/Aspergers in children & depression in adults

erth presents: MASKS & CHARACTER
Participants will be given a glimpse into the machinations of making visual & physical theatre. A tour through erth’s studio laden with masks, puppets and props will prelude a session that will allow the students to wear, explore and perform in an array of masks and costumes.

TUTOR Scott Wright, Artistic Director of erth. Scott has been a theatre maker all his life and has worked with the mask and puppetry art forms for most of this time. OUTREACH EXHIBITION
Pine Street Creative Arts Centre is pleased to announce the 2008 Group Outreach Exhibition.
The exhibition will display works produced over the past 12 months and covers both 2D and 3D mediums, representing painting and drawing, printmaking, ceramics, mosaics and jewellery. The art works are created by people with physical and intellectual disabilities, people who are homeless, people recovering from addiction and those leaving rehabilitation and correctional centres.
Participating groups: The Bridge, CARITAS, Connections, Glebe House, Glebe Art Group, Guthrie House, Northcott Ceramics, Northcott Painting, Open Access Ceramics, Open Access Charcoal Drawing, Roomies Art Group, Sunnyfield and The Studio Project.

HARD DAZE: Stage 1 Creative Development
Powerhouse Youth Theatre are collaborating with young people with and without a disability across Western Sydney to create Hard Daze; a new contemporary theatre performance for 2009. Hard Daze will be created from real life stories of young people living & working in Australia today, who face the challenges of finding a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work.
Stage 1 of Hard Daze is the creative development stage whereby an audience is invited to share with the company and performers their work in progress. A discussion with the company and cast will follow.
